New UL 1449 2007 Surge Suppression Requirements …
What You Need To Know! |
Changes at a Glance:
On February 9, 2007, all UL 1449 Listed surge suppressors will be required to meet stringent new safety requirements.
• Surge suppressors will be required to undergo strenuous testing to ensure they will not create fire or shock hazards when exposed to prolonged AC overvoltage conditions.
• Tests do not relate to, or guarantee surge suppressor performance, as UL’s function is product safety testing, not product performance testing.
The ACData Solution:
In an effort to be proactive, ACData Solutions has made a significant business investment in product redesign in order to meet the new UL 2007 requirements. Engineers at ACData Solutions’ Ryan Labs™ have developed a new patent pending anti-arcing system with existing thermal and current fusing mechanisms. The new technology ensures: |
• ACData Solutions’ products will exceed the new UL 2007 safety requirements.
• ACData Solutions’ products will continue to exceed maximum surge current capabilities without degradation, failure, or required maintenance.
Questions To Ask Your Surge Suppression Manufacturer Today:
All surge suppression manufacturers need to be addressing these new requirements. Some are undergoing significant investment to meet these requirements, like ACData Solutions, while others are relying on current fusing techniques in order to meet the requirements, resulting in a greatly reduced maximum surge capacity. |
• Is your manufacturer working to meet the new UL 2007 safety requirements?
• Will they meet the February 9, 2007 deadline?
• How will their products surge current capabilities be affected?
